OGDEN, UTAH, Nov. 10, 2011—Trace Minerals Research (TMR) has announced that it has once again been awarded Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) recertification with an “A” rating by the Natural Products Association (NPA) under the new Food and Drug Administration final cGMP rule for dietary supplements. TMR is one of only a handful of companies who are currently certified under the Revised NPA cGMP Standard for Dietary Supplements which incorporates the FDA final cGMP rule [21 CFR 111]. (See GMP certificate here)
“Quality is one of our core principles at TMR so we are once again very proud to be recertified cGMP by the NPA,” said Ryan Fisher, General Manager of TMR. “This is our eighth year of certification and we couldn’t have done it without the commitment and unmatched diligence of our quality control staff. Our processes, procedures and facilities are ever-changing for the better in an effort to continually keep pace with the stringent guidelines set forth in the NPA GMP certification program.”
The NPA’s GMP certification program not only meets the current FDA rule [21 CFR 111], but it exceeds the rule with other specific requirements as outlined by the Revised NPA’s cGMP Standard for Dietary Supplements. The NPA also uses third-party auditors to conduct audits of supplier member manufacturing facilities. Auditors must be trained in the Natural Products Association GMP standards and performance rating system, and have the required education, experience and training to conduct on-site audits.
According to the NPA’s website (www.npainfo.org), “the program ensures that all elements of the manufacturing process are reviewed to provide reasonable assurance that processes are sufficiently controlled so that products meet their established specification for quality, including identity, purity, strength and composition.”
